  13. I did the following once I installed dvipsk-5.58c:

  15.     dvips dvips.dvi
  16.  
  17. and wonder of wonders it worked!  NOTE: I didn't edit MakeTeXPK or
  18. config.ps.

  20.     MakeTeXPK was evoked with mode=ljfour as expected since
  21.     that's what is says in config.ps.
  22.  
  23.     However when I redefined it to cx. MakeTeXPK claimed that
  24.     MetaFont failed to make the requisite `gf' file which it
  25.     had previously had no difficulty. Making before with 
  26.     M ljfour in config.ps. What gives?

  28.     Is is because the *.tfm files that come in lib.tar.gz
  29.     were generated with mode=ljfour?
